Vintage sewing, customising and revamping workshop

Get fantastically creative and pick up handy new sewing skills while revamping a vest, tshirt, pair of knickers or any item of clothing eg jeans, cardi, skirt!

We provide lots ideas and examples, teach you a number of hand-sewing techniques and give you a beautiful selection of retro fabrics, vintage lace, antique ribbons, flowers, sequins, buttons, metal studs and lots more to get creative with. This is a really popular workshop and you'll leave with an original item you customised yourself, excellent hand sewing skills and plenty of ideas for revamping clothing at home.

This workshop is no longer running, but can still be completed in any of our weekly Sewing & Dressmaking classes, or in our One-to-One lessons!

Experience: No experience of sewing neccessary - suitable for all levels - for adults and children aged 13+

Workshop content:

Bring a plain tshirt, vest or pair of knickers (new) to customise using hand sewing and some of these techniques to create a beautiful new garment!

lace inserts in place of a strap or in a neckline
Lace straps replacing vest straps
Rosettes from jersey, lace etc
Sequins
Applique or cut out hearts
Sequins
Side or shoulder ties
cut outs

What to bring:

A plain tshirt, vest or pair of knickers (new) or any item of clothing eg jeans, cardi, skirt - bring a couple of items in case you have time to do more than one
Your glasses if you need them for close up work.

Booking terms:

The booking is for the date on your email booking confirmation only & payment is now non-refundable.
Rescheduling: If you let us know 14 days or more before the booked class date we can exchange your date for another on the list that has spaces or give you credit towards another sewing class. If we are given less than 14 days notice (before date of class) that you can’t make the booked class date, you may lose your booking as we will only swap your date or give you a credit if we have someone on the waiting list. However you could send a friend in your place instead if you can’t come and we cannot swap it for you – just let us know their details
Class dates are subject to change. This workshop will need to have at least 7 students booked on to run. We will do our best to fill each class. If the class you have booked and paid for has less than this we will contact you 24 hours or more or more before the event to offer you alternative future dates for your booking. If you cannot make any of our published dates (there will be plenty to choose from) we will arrange for you to join one of our regular Sunday afternoon or weekday morning Stitch Classes to do the content of this workshop.
