Quality Excellent
I came to Sew in Brighton thanks to an internet search for local sewing classes and was very happy with what I found! I am a beginner to dressmaking and pattern cutting and was keen to upgrade my skills in these areas, so I arrived at The Sewing Lounge armed with a pattern, some material and no clue what to do with them. This soon changed... Helped by the very crafty Kat over a few sessions I learned more than I ever thought I would about dressmaking, pattern cutting and also many general tips about sewing in general. I am now the proud wearer of my first skirt (or I will be once I have finished hemming it!) and am hooked. I will be attempting a dress next and definitely booking another set of classes for the future so that I can learn more and get the professional and expert help that Kat gives. She is helpful, kind and patient - a fantastic teacher (and as a teacher myself I am pretty picky when it comes to rating others abilities!) Looking to learn to sew? Or already a stitcher but need some help? Come to Sew in Brighton - it's great value and fantastic help!

Sew in Brighton is a really cool place to sew and the sewing lounge has a great atmosphere. I have learned a lot of sewing techniques, pattern cutting and dressmaking and I have really enjoyed the learning process. Eventually I have build a lot of sewing confidence and I`m definitely gonna continue my sewing journey at Sew in Brighton. I just LOVE to sew.

Isabella Marozzi Isabella reviewed June 2012 I have really enjoyed all my classes at the Sewing Lounge and am now completely addicted to sewing, dressmaking, clothes alterations, bag making etc! I started with the Beginners Course which was a great start to learning to use a sewing machine (which had been sitting in my attic for the past 4 years...) I had lots of laughs with the other 5 girls on the course who were all beginners too, and amazed myself by producing a great shopper-type bag and make-up purse by the end. I now attend the Stitch Morning Thursday classes which are very flexible as you can bring pretty much any sewing project you need help with. Kat is super-patient and really helpful as well as having decades of sewing knowledge and experience. I am now so inspired to keep sewing and can't wait to wear my new dress!
Rita Srednickaite reviewed June 2012 Thank you for your classes, it was super easy, and pleasant just because you are brilliant! I really enjoyed the classes and want more. Already booked next 5 weeks to sew. Looking forward for next one on Monday. Thank you for friendliness and patience.
Hannah Wilkins reviewed end June 2012 I have attended a number of classes at Sew in Brighton and am now officially a sewing addict!! I started out taking Making Clothes from Patterns and in 5 weeks transformed from someone who had last used a sewing machine 15 years ago and was a little bit scared of the whole process to someone who could confidently set up her own machine, sew in straight lines (and curves!), understand the language of patterns, size up myself and the pattern correctly and understand how to put it all together! I had chosen a fairly tricky 50s style halter neck dress so didn't quite manage to get it and the lining finished in the 5 weeks so I booked myself onto some of the Thursday night stitch night classes and soon had it finished off. It is now hanging in my wardrobe and I love the fact that when someone complements me on how lovely it is I can proudly say "I made that"!! Enthused I went out and bought my own sewing machine and have not stopped sewing! Cushions, dresses (many!), alterations, hems, buttons - you name it I'll sew it! Kat's classes are really carefully thought out and there is always time for some one-on-one time during the class to keep you on the right track. I have picked up so many invaluable tips and tricks along the way and have had an awful lot of fun. The Thursday evening sessions are equally brilliant - Debra somehow manages to split herself in 6 so everyone gets lots of guidance and support! I am now currently doing the Pattern Drafting course which is completely different but equally enjoyable and I can't wait for Thursday nights to come round! We've just finished preparing our own skirt block which fits like a glove and have learned how to play with a basic pencil skirt pattern to make all sorts of exciting design features (anything from a-line skirts, pleats, wide waistbands and godets - you'll have to do the course to find out out more!). We're now embarking on designing our very own skirt pattern all ready to sew up at the end of the course. If you're thinking about giving sewing a try for the very first time or just need some help and guidance with a project don't hesitate to get in touch with Kat and the team. Everyone is so friendly and lovely - you'll have a great time!

After years of gathering dust I have learnt how to use the sewing machine given to me 15 years ago! Good pace and projects are at a good level - very satisfying to create something you can use! The teaching is excellent and it's fun and relaxed - 4 weeks flew by.

a lot! I look forward to it every week.

but I wanted to learn more about making my own clothes. I'm doing the pattern making and pattern design course and am totally loving it! I find the atmosphere really relaxed and the pace of teaching is perfect. There's lots to take in, but Kat always makes sure we're all keeping up with what she's teaching us. There are 11 of us on the course, which is a nice number, not too small not too big... ooh, and it's really affordable! I am really excited about creating my first own skirt-design, and showing the skirt off this summer, and am also looking forward to start making more and more of my own clothes. I'd really recommend this course to anybody who is interested in designing their own clothes and wants to gain a bit of extra confidence in making / customising their own clothes.
Chloe - 17 Mar 2011
friendly and makes it all super easy to understand. Its also in a great location with plenty of room and tables to work on and free tea and biscuits! Unfortunately I'm going to miss a few classes but with the buddy groups set and the flexibility of the instructor and the course I'll still be able to complete my skirt.
Cass - 10 Mar 2011
and knowledgable teachers. I would definitely recommend.
