Learn to Sew: Children's Clothes

Have you always wanted to be able to make clothes for your child?  On our new 3 week course we will take you through making a garment from the very beginning, teaching you how to thread a sewing machine, sew seams and neaten them, and then how to use these skills to make a garment.  

By the end of the course you will have made a simple skirt or pair of shorts with an elasticated waist for a child of any age from 3 months to 7 years.

We will provide a simple pattern and help you to adjust the size, and you bring along your choice (or your child's choice?) of fabric. The tutor will help you to cut out and sew up the pieces, then make the pocket and thread in the elastic. 

If you are super fast and finish your garment before the end of the 3rd class, you could then learn how to applique a motif or add a frill, as appropriate.

Wednesday mornings 10am until 12.30pm  - 1st, 8th  & 15th August 2012

Price 
£55 £45 if you book before 30th July for the 3 morning classes (each class is 2.5 hours).  We'll provide the sewing machine, or you can bring your own.

 What to bring with you:

• 75cm of suitable non-stretch fabric, 140 - 160cm wide
• 1m elastic, 2cm or 1" wide
• matching thread - good quality 
• You will also need to bring a skirt or shorts which currently fit your child, for sizing.
