What to make & what to bring with you Take a look at our knitting & crochet projects page below. Each project will indicate skill level, estimated number of hours needed to complete the project, plus what to bring along to your lesson.
Alternatively, feel free to bring along your current knitting or crochet project for including yarn, patterns and needles and our teacher Susan will be able to help you!
Crochet Granny Squares - for bunting, a cushion, a blanket Time: 3-4.5 hours of 121 lessons Level: Suitable for beginner or improver (An absolute beginner will need 2 classes to learn this from scratch and make your first granny square!) Bring:
Rowan Handknit Cotton yarns (a nice yarn for beginners to use as its not too thin) or any other double knitting yarn can be used. Choose as many or few colors as you like - we used 4 different colours here.
Crochet hook size 3.5mm preferable / 4mm ok
A large hand sewing needle to join the squares - needs a large eye that yarn can fit through (we have some but you'll need one to finish at home
Knitting In The Round Level: Improver Time: 1.5 hours of 3-5 hours of 121 lessons (if you have some knitting experience).
A few people have wanted to know how to knit in the round (this involves a circular needle or double pointed needles. We have a few of these in class to demonstrate this. You can bring your own needles for this or practise with ours (we have a limited number of these type and sizes of needles so may be good for practising only)
Needles: Our teachers often have a few knitting needles you can use in the class depending on the project (email us to ask about borrowing these), but you may want to buy your own (they average £2 a pair at Closs&Hamblin on Western Rd Brighton) as then you can carry on at home in between classes - it's very addictive!!
