A great introduction to machine sewing, working with stretch fabric and adapting patterns. Make a pencil or A line, mini or knee length jersey skirt that fits perfectly. Take away your skirt and pattern to make more at home!

Project content:

In making this stretch skirt project you will:

  • Learn to thread up and sew with a sewing machine (if needed)
  • Learn best stitches to sew stretch fabric on a domestic sewing machine
  • Adjust fit/shape/size of pattern and cut out your skirt in stretch fabric
  • Make a your skirt
  • Take your pattern home so you can make more stretch skirts!


What to bring:

  • 1 metre of stretch jersey fabric* - reasonably robust - a 'double knit' or 'ponte roma' jersey is ideal. Choose something that's not too stretchy or thin and drapey
  • Note: All fabric needs washing and ironing before class, unless it is 100% polyester or PU/PVC/Olicloth - or the finished item will never be washed. Check fabric content and any washing/ironing instructions when purchasing fabric 
  • a reel of matching colour ordinary good quality sewing thread.

  • 1m of 1inch wide elastic
  • if you wear glasses for close up work please bring them 
  • we have tea, cordials and coffee available, but as this is a long workshop feel free to bring along snacks.
  • your email booking confirmation's instructions on how to find us
  • wear leggings or tights and a vest top or fitted tshirt so you can try the skirt on and measure yourself easily

We provide: sewing machine (or bring your own if you prefer) and everything else you need for the workshop.
