Intro to Pattern Cutting: Skirt Block (1 Day Workshop, material included)
Learn the basics of creating patterns for your own original clothing designs. Come along & make your own skirt 'block'. A block is a template pattern that fits you so you can adjust it to many other designs. We will teach you basic design adaptations too

Skills we will cover:

Measuring the body
drafting a skirt block
adding seam allowance and notches to make a working pattern from your draft
cutting out, sewing & fitting/adjusting a calico 'toile' (mock up to test the fit)
adjusting pattern after fitting to finalise block which can be used again and again to create skirt designs
drafting a waist facing to finish/strengthen the waist (can be sewn on at home)
Design adaptations to the pattern (done in miniature to create reference sheets: creating new dart & yoke positions - the basics of redesigning your skirt to your own ideas so you can. We can help you take these further and help you to create any skirt you can imagine from your block in our regular Stitch Classes or One-to-one lessons
