Sew in Brighton Sewing School closed down at the end of August 2024, at which point most of our teachers started offering their own classes. Please see details below of who is offering what in sewing, clothes making, quilting, overlocking, knitting, crochet and more!

Mel Roberts
Our popular teacher Mel will be running daytime and evening sewing groups for sewing, clothes making and pattern cutting at The Gathering Place, Orchid View, Hollingbury, Brighton BN1 8GP. More details here on Facebook
Classes will run on Tuesdays at these times:
- 10am-12.30pm
- 1-3.30pm
- 7-9.30pm.
Mel also offers one to one lessons.
Subjects: tissue fitting patterns, alterations, fitting, dressmaking, techniques like zips, pockets, buttonholes, pattern cutting and drafting, replicating existing clothes, sewing at all levels including beginner.

Kat Neeser
Sew In Brighton owner and founder Kat offers one-to-one and two-to-one private lessons at your house or at Kat's in Peacehaven. Lesson length 2hrs+ at £50 per hour (though various special offers are available to reduce this cost).
Lesson subjects: sewing for all levels inc. complete beginner, fitting patterns inc tissue fitting, alterations, dressmaking, techniques like zips, pockets, buttonholes, pattern cutting and drafting, replicating existing clothes.
Bring your own sewing machine or use one of Kat's.

Marren Hager, is a highly trained professional pattern cutter, who specialises in teaching pattern cutting plus all levels of sewing and clothes making, including total beginners. Marren is great fun and passionate about her work and involvement with sustainable fashion education and 'Slow Fashion Week'.
Marren offers one-to-one and two-to-one private sewing classes in Brighton, Monday to Saturday, at a time that suits you. She's based just off Lewes Rd at Rodhus Creative Studios, 16-30 Hollingdean Rd, Brighton and Hove BN2 4AA

Quilting workshops in Brighton and Hove. Gabrielle Morris runs this thriving quilting hub right on the border where Brighton meets Hove, just off the seafront near the Angel statue.

Susan Bates
Susan, our lovely knit, crochet, cross-stitch and needlepoint teacher says "I am offering lessons in a 1-1 format in a cafe near the Level and London Road, Or Brighton town centre/laines, Or Hove. Or I could go to the clients house. Basically anywhere easy to get by bus is my location remit!"

Hannah Evans
Hannah teaches overlocking at beginner and more advanced levels. She also teaches complete beginner sewing and is a professional pattern cutter and seamstress. Fun fact: Hannah has previously worked for an airline, pattern cutting and making their complex seat covers!
